Job description

Company Overview

Specialist Depot Ltd is a Ghanaian business platform that brings together e-commerce and end-to-end B2B sales and support services for both consumer and business customers. Its product range includes personal protective and safety gear, power tools, consumer electronics, household appliances, sports and fitness products, and computer accessories. The company has also grown into solar energy solutions and fire safety engineering, offering wholesale and retail supply, design services, and implementation support, along with extra-low voltage systems such as alarms and CCTV. The business is based on Spintex Road, opposite Kite Furniture, and focuses on delivering dependable products and services at competitive value.

Role Summary

The Fire Safety Consultancy Officer will work full time from the Ghana office, providing specialist advice on fire safety engineering and compliance for commercial and industrial clients. This position centers on evaluating fire risks, visiting client sites, carrying out audits and inspections, and turning findings into practical reports and recommendations. The role also includes developing and reviewing fire safety plans, advising on suitable equipment and systems, and helping clients install and maintain fire detection, alarm, and suppression solutions.

Core Duties

The officer will also deliver fire and safety awareness training to both customers and internal teams, assist in the review of accidents and incidents, and work closely with sales and technical colleagues so that fire safety offerings match client needs. A key part of the role is keeping current with relevant laws, codes, and industry standards while helping improve the company’s fire safety service delivery.

Qualifications and Experience

Candidates should have solid knowledge of health and safety practices and occupational health principles, with the ability to apply regulations correctly in different work settings. Experience in accident investigation and safety training is important, including the ability to analyze incidents and present information clearly during training sessions. Familiarity with security-related systems as they connect to fire protection, such as alarms, CCTV, and access control, is also required.

Professional certification in fire safety, occupational health and safety, or a related discipline such as NEBOSH, IOSH, or an equivalent qualification is considered an advantage. Prior exposure to fire safety consultancy, fire engineering, or safety management in industrial, commercial, or construction environments is preferred. Applicants should be able to read technical drawings, understand fire safety codes, and prepare concise client-facing reports and recommendations.

Strong communication and people skills are needed to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and interact effectively with clients at different levels. Comfort using basic IT and office productivity tools is expected, along with a willingness to adapt to company-specific systems. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, analytical, and proactive in identifying risks and reducing them.
