Role Overview
Amentum is hiring a Fire Alarm Dispatcher to support a specialized U.S. Navy program on Diego Garcia. The role sits at the center of emergency communications, where timely alarm monitoring, accurate call handling, and rapid dispatching are essential to keeping response operations effective.
What You Will Do
- Watch fire alarm systems and react quickly when alarm signals come in, following established emergency procedures.
- Answer emergency calls, assess urgency, and send the right fire department personnel to the scene.
- Use radios, phones, and computer-aided dispatch tools to manage and coordinate response activity.
- Keep responders informed with clear, immediate updates as situations develop.
- Record calls, unit dispatches, and response details accurately for logs and reports.
- Check alarm system status, identify faults promptly, and report issues so they can be resolved without delay.
- Support tracking of system alarms and planned maintenance to help prevent outages or recurring problems.
- Work closely with the Fire and Emergency Services team to maintain smooth coordination during incidents.
Minimum Qualifications
- A high school diploma or an equivalent credential is required.
- Telecommunicator I and II certifications, along with Hazmat Awareness certification, are required in line with applicable standards.
- New hires must complete all required certifications within 12 months of joining in order to work independently.
- Between 1 and 3 years of experience in emergency dispatch, fire communications, or a comparable field is expected.
- You should be able to stay composed in high-pressure situations and handle emergency response accurately.
- Experience using communications tools such as radios and CAD systems is needed.
- Strong organization and documentation abilities are necessary to keep dispatch records complete and reliable.
- You must communicate clearly and concisely with emergency personnel and responders.
- You need to be able to meet contract medical standards and remain compliant throughout deployment.
- The role requires the ability to obtain and keep facility credentials and authorization.
Preferred Background
- Experience in an austere overseas setting with a multinational workforce is an advantage.
- A valid country driver’s license is preferred.
- A country visa, where required under the U.S. Department of State Foreign Clearance Guide, is preferred.
- Prior work in fire dispatch for a government, military, or emergency response organization is beneficial.
- Familiarity with U.S. Navy or Department of Defense fire alarm and emergency dispatch procedures is a plus.
- Additional training or certification in emergency dispatch, communications systems, or situational response is desirable.
