Job description
About the role
A privately owned manufacturing business backed by private equity is scaling rapidly and going through a major period of change. The organisation has a strong market presence and clear growth ambitions, with continued investment across operations, systems and people to support the next stage of expansion.
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, this is a pivotal leadership position covering financial reporting, governance, tax compliance, treasury and financial control. It is well suited to a technically strong finance leader who enjoys a hands-on role, improving performance through better processes, and supporting growth in a complex manufacturing environment.
The package for this role is $170,000 to $180,000 plus superannuation.
Key responsibilities
- Take ownership of the full financial reporting cycle, including month-end close, statutory accounts, board packs, management reporting, consolidations and the timely delivery of accurate financial data.
- Manage all taxation and regulatory compliance matters, such as GST, BAS, FBT, income tax, payroll tax and related statutory obligations.
- Strengthen financial governance, internal controls, risk frameworks and external audit readiness across the business.
- Handle treasury responsibilities, including cash flow forecasting, working capital management, banking relationships and funding support.
- Oversee fixed asset, inventory and capital expenditure accounting, ensuring accuracy, compliance and strong control throughout manufacturing operations.
- Support, coach and develop the finance team while working closely with the CFO and senior leaders on strategic decisions and business growth initiatives.
Requirements
- CA or CPA qualification is required, with training from a Big 4 or well-regarded mid-tier firm preferred.
- Previous experience as a Financial Controller or Senior Finance Manager is needed.
- Strong technical capability across financial reporting, statutory compliance, tax, controls, governance and external audit is essential.
- Background in manufacturing, industrial or other inventory-heavy businesses will be an advantage.
- Hands-on experience with advanced ERP systems and a history of improving finance processes, controls and reporting quality is expected.
- You should be commercially minded and comfortable operating in a fast-growing, private equity-backed environment.
