Within the Automotive Division, which represents authorized dealerships for Nissan and Hyundai in Barbados and Nissan in Jamaica, St. Lucia, and St. Vincent, we provide diverse automotive services including parts, mechanical and electrical workshops, body shops, tire services, and battery manufacturing/retailing. Become part of our expanding team as a Financial Controller for Fidelity Motors Ltd, reporting directly to the General Manager and functionally to the Divisional Financial Controller.
Key Responsibilities
The Financial Controller will oversee complete accounting operations, including ledger management, payables, receivables, payroll, asset management, reconciliations, and month-end closing. Responsibilities include preparing accurate and timely monthly management and financial reports, analyzing results with a focus on risks and opportunities, ensuring regulatory compliance with filings and tax submissions, and monitoring creditor and debtor activities.
Lead the budgeting and forecasting processes in alignment with divisional goals; monitor budget adherence and provide insights for pricing, cost management, margin improvement, inventory planning, and strategic decisions. Collaborate with management to enhance profitability across all business units including vehicle sales and service departments.
Design and maintain robust internal controls and risk management frameworks to prevent fraud, ensure process compliance, and identify financial irregularities. Oversee inventory controls, ensuring reconciliation accuracy and monitoring stock levels and aging. Manage revenue capture and approve sales-related transactions to prevent discrepancies.
Maintain oversight on cash flow, working capital, and treasury functions; prepare cash forecasts, interact with financing partners, and support bank reconciliations. Assess and enhance accounting and ERP systems for accuracy, efficiency, and process improvements. Lead and develop the finance and accounting team, fostering a strong control culture and high ethical standards while serving as the primary financial liaison among internal and external stakeholders.
Qualifications & Experience
- University degree in Management, Accounting or related field.
- Professional qualification (ACCA, CPA, CGA) or final level certification.
- At least 2 years in a senior leadership finance role.
- Expertise in financial planning, modeling, data analysis, and IFRS knowledge.
- Advanced skills in Excel, financial software, and MS Office.
- Strong numerical, analytical, interpersonal and communication abilities.
- Proven capacity to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
