Job description
Role overview
Join Google’s Platforms and Devices Commercial Organization finance team as a Strategic Financial Analyst. In this role, you will help guide financial decisions for a subscription-based hardware and services business by building analysis, evaluating growth initiatives, and supporting planning and reporting across multiple functions.
You will work on several projects at once, combine attention to detail with big-picture thinking, and contribute recommendations that help leadership make informed strategic choices. The role offers exposure to the full FP&A cycle, including forecasting, operational planning, long-range planning, performance tracking, and scenario analysis.
Individual compensation is influenced by job-related experience, skills, education, and training. For the US location, the pay range is USD 116,000 to 167,000, plus a 15% bonus target, additional bonus potential, equity, and benefits.
What you will do
- Contribute to monthly forecasting, annual operating plans, and long-term planning cycles while analyzing revenue and cost trends to identify major drivers.
- Create adaptable financial models to assess promotional offers, device pricing, and subscriber economics, including trade-offs between growth and per-user profitability.
- Act as a dependable finance partner for cross-functional teams by leading financial reviews, monitoring performance against plan, and following milestone progress.
- Improve data workflows by using analytics tools and automation to reduce fragmented data issues and cut down manual reporting effort.
- Work with partner teams to shape financial frameworks for hardware promotions, test investment assumptions, model return on investment, track budgets, and support growth and unit economics goals.
What we are looking for
- A bachelor’s degree in business, finance, economics, statistics, or another quantitative discipline, or equivalent hands-on experience.
- At least 4 years of experience in FP&A, consulting, or a similar function, or an advanced degree.
- Strong capability to work planning and forecasting processes in ways that improve automation, reduce manual work, and sharpen scenario modeling.
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills, with the ability to translate complex financial structures into clear business insights.
- Advanced financial modeling skills in Google Sheets.
- Experience working with database query tools such as SQL or business intelligence platforms to retrieve and organize dispersed datasets.
