Job description

About the role

This position sits within Corporate Financial Planning and Analysis and focuses on building from the ground up financial models and forecasts for Alphabet’s cash flow and balance sheet. The role turns complex financial information into clear weekly reporting, supports urgent diligence work, and helps connect finance activity with broader business objectives.

You will work closely with teams across Finance and other functions such as Technical Infrastructure, Cloud, M&A, Treasury, Accounting, Engineering, and Infrastructure. Success in this role depends on strong analytical thinking, comfort with uncertainty, and the ability to communicate financial insights in a simple, structured way for leadership.

Pay is determined based on job-related skills, experience, education, and training. The stated US compensation for this role is $116,000 to $167,000, plus a 15% bonus target, bonus, equity, and benefits.

Minimum qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Statistics, Business, or another quantitative discipline closely related to these areas.
  • At least 4 years of experience in corporate finance or FP&A, with hands-on work in forecasting, variance analysis, and financial statement review.
  • Practical experience using financial systems such as SAP, Oracle, or Hyperion.

Preferred qualifications

  • Strong spreadsheet modeling skills and experience organizing large datasets, especially with SQL.
  • Solid understanding of how the profit and loss statement connects with the balance sheet and cash flow statement.
  • Proven ability to work effectively with cross-functional technical partners and Corporate Development teams.
  • Comfort operating in ambiguous settings, handling day-to-day investigative issues independently, and escalating larger problems when needed.
  • Ability to turn financial data into concise summaries and well-structured presentation decks for weekly leadership updates.

Responsibilities

  • Build, maintain, and improve forecasts for the balance sheet and cash flow, while strengthening partnerships across the business.
  • Prepare weekly reporting packs and variance analyses covering balance sheet and cash flow movements, along with core operational items such as depreciation, power, and equipment.
  • Respond to high-priority diligence requests from leadership by completing gap analyses and financial assessments.
  • Own daily data pipelines and model inputs, and recommend process improvements and efficiency gains to management while resolving routine issues.
  • Work with finance and other operational teams to ensure accurate capital asset inputs for equipment and power infrastructure, keeping work aligned with company goals.
