Job description
Role overview
This is a one-time, paid, project-based consulting engagement for experienced finance planning professionals. The work is remote and intended for U.S.-based experts only. It is not a permanent or full-time position.
Selected participants will take part in a recorded, AI-led video interview that lasts about 30 minutes. You will be expected to explain how you carry out your work in real situations, without any advance preparation.
Engagement details
- Format: one-time project interview on a contract basis
- Work mode: remote
- Eligible location: United States
- Estimated compensation: $115 per hour, prorated for the 30-minute session
Topics covered in the interview
- Building annual budgets, including top-down targets, bottom-up submissions, underlying assumptions, and approval steps
- Managing rolling forecasts, deciding when to reforecast, evaluating forecast accuracy, and explaining variances versus prior forecasts
- Handling long-range planning, including base, upside, and downside scenarios, as well as alignment with strategy and financing or board-level use cases
- Maintaining version control, managing planning-system lock dates, loading final budgets, and coordinating cross-functional inputs
What the interview will focus on
You will be asked to walk through your actual workflows in annual planning, rolling forecasting, reforecasting, long-range planning, budget approval, and planning-system operations. Responses should be detailed, practical, and grounded in your own experience.
Candidate profile
Applicants should be able to explain these processes step by step and answer follow-up questions from an AI interviewer with confidence and specificity. The emphasis is on real-world execution rather than high-level theory.
Requirements
- At least 6 years of experience in FP&A, financial planning, finance business partnering, corporate finance, or business-unit finance
- Hands-on ownership of annual planning, rolling forecasting, reforecasting, long-range planning, budget approval, and planning-system workflows
- Practical experience influencing or making decisions on budget tradeoffs, forecast assumptions, reforecast triggers, scenario drivers, approval thresholds, and board readiness
- Comfort with planning and reporting tools such as Anaplan, Adaptive Planning, Oracle EPM, Workday Adaptive, SAP BPC, Excel, PowerPoint, and Power BI
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain financial workflows, decisions, and rationale clearly
- Experience operating in a real production environment and directly executing the relevant processes
- Background working with cross-functional finance, strategy, treasury, investor relations, or business-partner teams
Data use and participation terms
After the interview, your video recording and transcript, along with AI-generated insights, will be shared with the internal research team and an AI lab partner. The information will be used to build a structured task list for the profession and to support AI model improvement.
Additional information
Participants manage their own schedule and use their own tools to complete the session. They may also participate in other opportunities at the same time. This is a project-based paid engagement, and the hourly rate is only an estimate based on the expected completion time.
