Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced Finance Manager with specialization in Global Retail to spearhead financial business partnerships for a key worldwide retail client, the MSH account. Based in Cologne, this highly critical position entails driving insightful performance management, governance of marketing investments, and commercial accountability to influence strategic growth and investment decisions alongside global partners.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the principal finance business partner for the global MSH retail account by delivering strategic financial guidance, insightful analysis, and constructive challenge to support decision-making and enhance performance.
- Take accountability for the entire category financial operations related to MSH, ensuring alignment of financial strategies with commercial goals and global account plans.
- Lead the governance and control of all marketing investments linked to MSH (BBI), enforcing rigorous tracking, cost management, and spend optimization.
- Assess return on investment (ROI) and effectiveness of category and marketing initiatives, providing well-founded recommendations to improve financial returns.
- Conduct comprehensive performance and growth analyses to uncover risks and opportunities that sustain long-term account success.
- Oversee forecasting processes for category performance and marketing expenditure to ensure accuracy, clarity, and coherence with global and regional objectives.
- Direct the annual financial planning and budgeting for the MSH account, delivering data-driven, insightful financial plans.
- Develop and present financial models and scenario analyses to guide strategic choices and commercial negotiations.
- Maintain strict adherence to financial controls, policies, and compliance standards in all MSH-related activities.
- Foster strong collaborative relationships with global account leaders, category teams, and marketing departments, acting as a trusted advisor and critical analyst.
Candidate Profile
- Possess 7 to 9 years of progressive experience in Finance with robust expertise in financial business partnering within global retail contexts, preferably involving significant key account interactions such as MSH.
- Hold a Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related disciplines.
- Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of retail financial mechanisms within multi-market, global setups and proven ability to convert account-level data into actionable insights.
- Exhibit strong capabilities in category and commercial finance including financial planning, forecasting, and marketing investment management.
- Have a solid record in controlling marketing spend (BBI) and improving return on investments in retail environments.
- Exceptional analytical proficiency enabling translation of complex financial information into clear, commercially relevant advice for senior management.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, SAP, Power BI (or comparable tools), combined with superior financial modelling and reporting abilities.
- Excellent communication and influencing skills, adept at partnering and challenging senior stakeholders across a global matrix structure.
- Fluent in English; proficiency in other European languages is advantageous.
