Finance Director / CFO, Public Markets

About the Role

A leading global investment platform is expanding its public markets asset management presence across the APAC region and is seeking a Finance Director / CFO based in Singapore. This senior finance leadership position involves steering the finance activities for public markets across Singapore, Hong Kong, and China, supporting fund finance, reporting, governance, controls, and business collaboration with senior stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the finance function for the APAC public markets business, covering multiple territories including Singapore, Hong Kong, and China.
• Serve as the principal local finance partner to senior management and investment teams, advising on finance, reporting, regulatory governance, and business planning.
• Oversee and nurture a lean finance team with potential for growth aligned to platform expansion.
• Manage fund finance operations encompassing NAV validation, valuation governance, investor and management reporting, and financial control frameworks.
• Collaborate closely with fund administrators, auditors, advisors, and other external providers to guarantee timely, precise reporting.
• Direct audits, regulatory filings, compliance procedures, and maintain internal controls.
• Enhance finance process efficiency, documentation, and governance standards as the business scales across the region.
• Work with senior stakeholders to assist portfolio oversight, execution of operational goals, and strategic planning.
• Provide commercial advice regarding fund structures, scalability prospects, operational enhancements, and related finance decisions.
• Effectively communicate complex financial information clearly to both finance and non-finance stakeholders in a senior, practical, and business-focused style.

Candidate Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business, economics, or a closely related discipline.
• Approximately 9 to 12 years of pertinent finance experience, preferably in asset management, hedge funds, family offices, public markets, or similar investment environments.
• Robust practical experience in fund finance, controllership, financial reporting, auditing, internal controls, and managing external financial service providers.
• Previous exposure to collaboration with fund administrators, auditors, advisors, investors, and executive internal teams.
• Experience or familiarity with public markets, open-ended fund structures, equities, multi-asset strategies, or investment platforms is a strong advantage.
• Experience working within APAC or multi-jurisdictional settings would be beneficial.
• Backgrounds from Big 4 firms, buy-side finance, or investment platforms with operational finance expertise fit well for this role.
• Mandarin language skills are advantageous but not mandatory.
• Excellent stakeholder management skills with confidence in engaging senior stakeholders and investment teams.
• Proactive, pragmatic, adaptable professional comfortable with broad responsibilities in a lean environment.
• Commercially focused, detail-oriented, and motivated by contributing to long-term business growth beyond mere title recognition.
