About the Role
Located in the Frankfurt area, Germany, this position as Finance Business Partner (Specialist/Senior Specialist level) for Utility-scale Storage at AlphaESS involves acting as the primary finance liaison for the expanding large-scale energy storage operations in Europe. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with the project and commercial divisions to ensure robust financial governance throughout all project stages, from bidding through to completion.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide financial insights during the bidding phase through cost analysis and margin assessment.
- Assess contract terms for financial risk factors such as payment milestones, penalties, and foreign exchange impact.
- Monitor and control project budgets by comparing planned versus actual expenditures and proactively identify overruns.
- Oversee project billing milestones, promote prompt invoicing, and supervise accounts receivables with project manager coordination.
- Assist in cash flow forecasting specific to the storage business unit.
- Evaluate and negotiate payment terms focusing on financial risks like advance payments and retention clauses.
- Manage Letter of Credit processes by reviewing terms, liaising with banks, and ensuring compliance.
- Coordinate issuance of bank guarantees including performance bonds and warranties in accordance with contractual obligations.
- Develop monthly and quarterly Profit & Loss reports for the utility storage segment accompanied by variance analysis and presentation to management.
- Contribute to month-end closing activities related to storage projects.
- Serve as the financial interface between the storage business team and headquarters finance functions.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with legal, tax, and treasury teams on project-specific financial matters.
Candidate Requirements
- A Bachelor's degree or higher in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or similar disciplines.
- Between 2 to 5 years of relevant finance experience in areas such as Financial Planning & Analysis, project finance, or as a finance business partner.
- Fluency in English is mandatory; knowledge of Chinese is highly advantageous.
- Demonstrated proficiency in Excel along with hands-on experience using ERP systems like SAP, Oracle, or equivalents.
- Preferred but not required: Experience within energy storage, renewable energy sectors, or capital equipment industries.
- Additional advantage goes to candidates familiar with German business and tax regulations.
