About Association of Film Actors Uganda LTD
Based in Kampala, this organization is dedicated to supporting and promoting Uganda's film industry and its creative professionals. It aims to enhance local filmmaking standards, nurture talent, and foster collaboration among actors, directors, and other practitioners. The association is committed to raising the profile of Ugandan cinema both nationally and internationally, valuing creativity, professionalism, and inclusive storytelling.
Role Overview
The Film Director will be responsible for shaping the creative vision and managing the execution of film projects from the initial pre-production phase through to the final delivery. This is a full-time position located onsite in Kampala. The director will collaborate closely with writers, producers, actors, and technical teams to interpret scripts, establish visual styles, and supervise performances.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and supervise rehearsals and on-set scene direction.
- Coordinate with cinematographers and sound crews to maintain continuity and artistic consistency.
- Take part in post-production editing review and offer creative guidance.
- Manage production schedules and ensure quality standards are met.
- Promote a safe, inclusive, and professional working environment aligned with company objectives and budgets.
Qualifications and Skills
- Extensive expertise in Film Direction and Production.
- Strong abilities in Scriptwriting and story crafting.
- Proficient in Video Production and managing on-set coordination.
- Experienced in Post-Production processes, including collaborating with editors.
- Demonstrated history of directing short or feature films, series, or similar audiovisual projects.
- Comprehensive knowledge of cinematography, lighting, sound, and visual storytelling techniques.
- Leadership skills to guide diverse teams, with excellent communication, time management, budgeting, and resource allocation capabilities.
- Awareness of current film trends, especially African cinema, and audience engagement methods is advantageous.
- Formal education or training in Film, Media, or related disciplines is preferred but practical experience may be considered in lieu.
