Role summary

As a Field Sales Representative based in Christchurch, you will support a wide range of out-of-home customers across Christchurch and nearby areas, with occasional trips outside the region. The position suits someone who enjoys people, has a background in coffee or barista work, and wants to build a career in sales while working in a hands-on, customer-facing role.

What you will do

  • Manage a portfolio of customers across Christchurch and surrounding locations on a day-to-day basis.
  • Visit customer sites and carry out equipment checks on machines such as espresso machines, grinders and automatic coffee equipment.
  • Use your barista knowledge to prepare coffee, demonstrate quality service and create a great experience for customers.
  • Identify growth opportunities in your territory to lift revenue and profit, including potential new customers.
  • Travel as needed, which may include some overnight stays.
  • Plan and deliver training sessions to strengthen customer capability and engagement.
  • Follow operating procedures and help maintain compliance across the customer base.
  • Maintain clear communication, manage your time effectively and stay on top of your customer call cycle.

What the company is looking for

  • Experience or knowledge in the coffee industry, plus barista experience, is highly valued.
  • You should be comfortable meeting new people, building rapport and maintaining relationships.
  • A genuine interest in learning sales skills and developing a career in the coffee and tea sector is important.
  • You need to be confident, thoughtful and professional when working with customers and adapting to new situations.
  • Prior business development experience would be an advantage.
  • A full, clean driver’s licence is required, and the role involves being on the road for most of the working time.
  • Applicants must already have unrestricted legal permission to work in New Zealand.
