Field Safety Specialist

About the Role

We seek a Field Safety Specialist to join our team at INEOS Acetyls in Texas City, TX. This role primarily involves spending up to 80% of the time on-site, focusing on the execution and management of safety policies and programs to reduce incident risks. The role aligns with business objectives to promote a safe working environment by preventing accidents and minimizing losses.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Implement and uphold INEOS's 20 principles of process and behavioral safety and life-saving rules.
• Lead and manage the Behavioral Based Safety Program at INEOS Acetyls.
• Oversee Safety, Health, and Environmental (SHE) programs including inspection and maintenance of fire extinguishers, self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA), fall protection equipment, and other safety monitoring activities.
• Serve as the daily contact point for work permits and safety queries.
• Develop, update, and communicate safety, health, and emergency procedures.
• Conduct regular safety audits and inspections of equipment and facilities, ensuring compliance and effectiveness.
• Evaluate contractor safety programs and enforce adherence to safety standards including respiratory and fall protection.
• Prepare and submit routine safety activity and statistical reports to site management.
• Carry out annual inspections for fire extinguishers, fall protection equipment, and safety showers, including minor repairs.
• Respond promptly to plant emergencies such as accidents, ensuring timely reporting and investigation of incidents with root cause analysis.
• Assess workplace hazards and collaborate across departments to improve safety conditions and share best practices.
• Implement compliance with legal safety and health requirements and contribute to budgeting and managing expenditures related to personal safety.

Qualifications and Experience

• Minimum age of 18 years with a High School diploma or GED.
• At least 5 years of hands-on experience in chemical manufacturing environments.
• Possession or ability to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card before starting employment.
• Valid US driver's license.
• Legal authorization to work permanently in the United States without visa sponsorship.
• Minimum 2 years in a specialist safety or industrial hygiene role, or 3+ years of relevant safety experience with increasing responsibility in chemical manufacturing.
• Familiarity with safety and health regulations, standards, and processes.
• Capability to obtain certifications such as Portable Fire Extinguisher Technician and Competent Person training for safety showers and fall protection.
