Job description

Role Overview

The Field HSE Specialist plays a key role by assisting local managers in developing and enhancing a robust health, safety, and environmental culture at the worksite.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Promote awareness to incorporate quality and HSE compliance as essential components of Line Management duties and targets.
  • Support management and operational units in the implementation and ongoing improvement of Quality and HSE Management Systems, including setting objectives, collaborating with clients, subcontractors, and agencies on quality and HSE matters.
  • Assess site-specific risks to establish and apply local policies and plans, enforce control measures, and maintain proper documentation.
  • Organize and conduct review meetings to evaluate the effectiveness of quality and HSE systems and identify areas for enhancement.
  • Coordinate and engage in personnel screening and training initiatives, encompassing subcontracted staff.
  • Stay updated with emerging policies and developments related to quality and HSE, communicating relevant information to management.
  • Ensure all necessary HSE documentation is accessible at the worksite.
  • Provide management with guidance on compliance with local and national health, safety, and environmental laws of the host country.
  • Communicate and cooperate with subcontractors, customers, and local authorities regarding HSE issues.
  • Participate actively in audits and investigations concerning quality, HSE compliance, major incidents, and accidents.
  • Foster a culture of safety awareness among all staff through communication, training, and encouraging involvement in incident prevention and reporting.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in HSE, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years’ experience in health, safety, and environmental roles, ideally within oil & gas or industrial sectors.
  • Proficient knowledge of HSE management systems such as ISO 45001 and ISO 14001.
  • Understanding of both local and international HSE regulations and standards.
  • Skilled in conducting risk assessments, audits, and incident investigations.
  • Effective communication and training abilities.
  • Capable of advocating a strong safety culture and ensuring compliance on-site.
  • Possession of relevant certifications like NEBOSH or IOSH is preferred.
