Role Overview
The Field Construction Coordinator acts as the vital link connecting project planning with onsite execution. Daily responsibilities focus on facilitating subcontractors, sequencing work appropriately, identifying and resolving potential issues proactively, and maintaining seamless communication between the jobsite and office.
Primarily onsite, this role involves constant site walkthroughs, crew coordination, progress documentation, early issue detection, and supporting Superintendents and Project Managers to ensure safe, efficient progress across civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, low-voltage, and commissioning disciplines.
In addition to daily coordination, the role contributes to developing standardized procedures and reporting tools as Giga expands nationally.
Work Location and Travel
This full-time position requires being present onsite at active construction projects, with occasional travel to other Giga sites for supporting mobilization, installations, commissioning, and project closeout.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide daily field coordination assisting Superintendents and Project Managers to maintain smooth construction operations.
- Synchronize activities of multiple trades ensuring safety and workflow efficiency.
- Conduct frequent site walks to monitor progress, identify conflicts, and address issues before they cause delays.
- Organize subcontractors, vendors, inspectors, and equipment deliveries to sustain ongoing work.
- Monitor installation progress relative to the project schedule and communicate potential delays promptly.
- Confirm readiness of work areas including necessary inspections, material availability, and equipment prior to scheduled tasks.
- Support the planning and coordination of installing modular data center components and major equipment such as generators and chillers.
- Oversee utility locates, concrete pours, crane operations, inspections, testing, commissioning support, and authority visits.
- Maintain comprehensive daily field reports documenting manpower, weather, photographs, and notable site activities.
- Track and ensure resolution of punch list items, field observations, requests for information, and action points.
- Review construction drawings against field conditions to highlight constructability and coordination challenges.
- Help maintain project documentation including permits, inspection logs, submittals, RFIs, and turnover materials.
- Participate actively in daily planning, subcontractor coordination, and scheduling review meetings.
- Collaborate closely with Project Management, Safety, Quality Assurance, Procurement, Engineering, and Commissioning teams.
- Develop and implement standardized field coordination processes, reporting formats, site logistics plans, and best practices for use across projects nationwide.
Required Qualifications
- At least two years of hands-on experience supporting commercial, industrial, manufacturing, energy, or mission-critical construction projects.
- Previous onsite experience working directly alongside Superintendents, Project Managers, or General Contractors.
- Strong knowledge of construction sequencing across civil, concrete, structural steel, mechanical, electrical, underground utilities, and low-voltage systems.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting construction drawings, specifications, and schedules.
- Excellent organizational skills to juggle multiple priorities within a fast-paced construction environment.
- Strong communication abilities to build effective working relationships with subcontractors, vendors, inspectors, and leadership.
- High attention to detail with reliable follow-through.
- Comfortable spending the majority of the workday outdoors on active construction sites.
Preferred Additional Qualifications
- Experience supporting hyperscale data center, manufacturing, utility, industrial, or mission-critical construction projects.
- Familiarity with construction software tools such as Procore, Autodesk Construction Cloud, Bluebeam, Primavera P6, or Microsoft Project.
- Possession of OSHA 30 safety certification.
- Experience handling heavy equipment deliveries, crane operations, or significant equipment installations.
- Involvement in commissioning activities and project closeout processes.
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related technical field.
