Job description
Role overview
The Field Activity Support Team (FAST) Team Member supports stores across an assigned district by completing start-to-finish variable tasks such as planograms, merchandise and fixture assembly, and signage upkeep. The role also involves working directly with customers and store teams to help deliver a strong in-store experience.
Tractor Supply focuses on improving everyday life for customers, neighbors, and team members through dependable service and hands-on support.
Key duties
- Carry out planograms, resets, and other merchandising tasks accurately and on schedule.
- Keep visual presentation standards in line with store expectations.
- Take store measurements and support store layout changes and initiatives.
- Perform cycle counts with accuracy.
- Complete Tractor Way top cap work.
- Install and maintain store signage.
- Assemble merchandise, fixtures, and PDQs.
- Complete detailed recovery work and check planogram integrity.
- Support customer service using the GURA approach: greet customers, uncover needs, recommend solutions, and ask to add value while showing appreciation.
- Provide additional coverage during peak periods, including high-volume days such as the day after Thanksgiving.
- Carry out other duties as assigned.
Schedule and travel
This position requires travel between stores within the district using a personal vehicle. Work hours may vary by store and business demand, and shifts can include days, nights, overtime, and schedules that are generally at least 4 hours and may run beyond 8 hours.
Required qualifications
Prior experience in retail and/or merchandising is required. Knowledge of farming, ranching, pet/equine care, or welding is preferred. Applicants must be 18 years of age or older and hold a valid driver’s license. A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred, though not mandatory. Regardless of education level, the person in this role must be able to read, write, and count accurately.
Preferred skills and abilities
Strong communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills are important, along with basic computer skills. The ideal candidate can resolve issues respectfully and ethically, work independently with minimal guidance, and stay self-directed while completing assigned work.
Working conditions
Work is generally performed indoors in a moderately noisy environment, although travel between locations is required and often involves extended periods in a personal vehicle. Floors and outdoor surfaces are typically hard surfaces such as concrete or asphalt. The role also requires following company safety practices and maintaining a safe, productive environment for both team members and customers.
Physical requirements
This is a physically active, non-sedentary role that involves frequent standing, walking, kneeling, twisting, crouching, squatting, bending, stooping, climbing ladders, and reaching overhead. The team member must be able to move through all store areas, use store equipment, complete documentation, and communicate clearly with customers and coworkers. The role includes handling birds/poultry, completing required training, driving a vehicle, sitting as needed, and lifting merchandise up to 50 pounds. With proper material-handling equipment, the position may require pushing and pulling merchandise up to 2,000 pounds.
Additional information
The job description provides an overview of the role and is not intended to list every responsibility. Team members are expected to perform any additional duties assigned by their supervisor.
