Role Overview

This position focuses on serving customers and supporting fellow team members while helping drive sales initiatives. The goal is to create a standout customer experience and keep daily store operations running smoothly.

The company is committed to making everyday life better for customers and employees through a friendly, service-first environment.

Key Duties

  • Maintain dependable attendance and be available for scheduled shifts.
  • Work a flexible schedule that may include different hours, days, nights, weekends, and overtime based on business requirements.
  • Provide exceptional service using the GURA approach: greet customers, identify their needs, suggest product options, and thank them for their business.
  • Spend most of the workday performing store support activities accurately, efficiently, and safely.
  • Process transactions on the register or computer while following company cash-handling standards.
  • Handle merchandise recovery, freight-related tasks, planogram sets and resets, and product assembly.
  • Carry out janitorial work and complete price changes or markdowns.
  • Operate a forklift and cardboard baler when age-eligible.
  • Support customers with loading purchases and help deliver a shopping experience that stands out from competitors.
  • Care for birds and poultry as needed, including sanitizing and maintaining holding tanks.
  • Complete all required records and documents tied to job duties.
  • Take on additional responsibilities as assigned.

Required Qualifications

No prior experience is required. Retail experience is helpful, and knowledge of farming, ranching, pets/equine, or welding is especially valued.

A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred but not mandatory. All candidates must be able to read, write, and count accurately.

Preferred Skills and Abilities

  • Familiarity with farming, ranching, pets/equine, or welding.
  • Strong verbal and written communication.
  • Problem-solving ability.
  • Basic computer literacy.
  • Good interpersonal skills and the ability to handle issues professionally and with minimal conflict.
  • Accuracy in reading, writing, and counting.

Working Conditions

The work environment is generally indoors with moderate noise. Floors and outdoor areas are typically hard surfaces such as concrete or asphalt, and lighting and temperature conditions are acceptable.

Shifts vary by store, are usually at least 4 hours long, and may run beyond 8 hours.

The role requires supporting a safe and productive workplace and following company safety training and guidelines.

Physical Requirements

  • Move and handle merchandise weighing up to 50 pounds across the store.
  • Push and pull merchandise up to 2,000 pounds with appropriate material-handling equipment.
  • Reach overhead at times.
  • Frequently stand, kneel, twist, crouch, squat, bend, stoop, and climb ladders.
  • Remain mobile throughout the entire shift.
  • Access all store areas, including the selling floor, side lot, stockroom, and register area.
  • Use store equipment such as a dolly, hand truck, forklift, baler, computer, and cash register, as applicable.
  • Operate store systems continuously during the shift.
  • Process merchandise and information through the point-of-sale system.
  • Work around birds and poultry.
  • Complete all required training successfully.
  • Complete propane dispensing training and certification and dispense propane where permitted; this does not apply to workers under 18.
