Overview
Phifer & Company is seeking a dynamic and motivated Director of Public Relations to lead our flourishing Fashion Division, covering both men's and women's fashion and accessories brands. The role demands strong leadership capabilities to guide the team and deliver outstanding outcomes by leveraging deep familiarity with the changing media environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the fashion division's portfolio including strategic guidance, routine client consultation, and campaign enhancement.
- Lead and develop a high-performance team with training initiatives for new hires and advancement-oriented top performers.
- Design and implement strategic public relations plans on both bi-annual and long-term timelines.
- Conduct high-level media pitching targeting features, executive profiles, expert commentary, and thought leadership.
- Organize and direct fashion shows, product presentations, retail activations, launch events, press conferences, and press trips.
- Build and expand VIP, celebrity, influencer, stylist, and talent relationships.
- Approve client budgets and collaborate with leadership on hiring new team members.
- Travel locally and internationally to support client events.
Candidate Profile
- Minimum 8 years of experience in fashion and accessories public relations, with at least 4 years in senior leadership at an agency or in-house setting.
- Proven leadership in managing a team, fostering growth, and maintaining employee retention.
- Exceptional knowledge across various sectors of fashion and accessories.
- Strong network of senior editorial contacts in fashion, luxury lifestyle, and accessories media.
- Track record of successful brand/product launches, fashion events, and press-related activations.
- Excellent communication skills for managing senior client relationships and navigating conflict situations.
- Experienced in creating brand partnerships, collaborations, and large-scale events.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with a drive to expand the fashion division.
- Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, journalism, or related field.
- Commitment to commuting to the New York City office five days a week.
