Responsibilities

  • Draft, format, and prepare family law paperwork such as pleadings, motions, financial affidavits, and discovery materials.
  • Support discovery by monitoring deadlines, managing production materials, and keeping case summaries current.
  • Submit court filings, including through eFiling systems, and arrange service of documents when required.
  • Handle client communication in a professional, empathetic manner, including conversations involving difficult or high-conflict situations.
  • Record billable time carefully and help monitor retainer balances and billing-related requirements.
  • Work with Mac OS, Google Workspace, and MyCase to complete legal support tasks.
  • Assist attorneys with trial and case preparation through strong organization, documentation, and consistent follow-through.

Requirements

  • Two to three years of experience supporting an attorney in a family law practice.
  • A bachelor’s degree is required.
  • Completion of an ABA-approved paralegal certificate program, or an Associate’s degree or proprietary paralegal studies program.
  • Strong working knowledge of Mac operating systems, Google Suite, and CRM databases.
  • Ability to conduct legal research and produce clear legal writing.
  • High levels of integrity and discretion when handling confidential information.
  • Excellent time management, organization, and multitasking skills.
  • Comfort working with multiple attorneys and teammates.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to manage client interactions professionally.
  • Preferred background in family law and a commitment to compassionate client service.
