About the Role

The Maine Divorce Group, a client-driven law firm specializing in family law, is seeking an experienced Family Law Paralegal to support its mission of delivering outstanding legal representation. This hybrid role offers a combination of remote and in-office work, providing flexibility while demanding a high degree of professionalism and organization. The ideal candidate will be highly detail-oriented, proactive, and adept at managing a diverse range of administrative and legal support tasks in a dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate all scheduling requirements, including court dates, mediation sessions, client consultations, and key case milestones.
  • Open, organize, and diligently maintain both digital and physical case files across the matter’s lifecycle, ensuring records are up to date and accurate.
  • Draft, prepare, and format a variety of family law documentation such as pleadings, motions, discovery requests and responses, as well as financial affidavits.
  • Facilitate and oversee the discovery process, including deadline tracking, managing document production, and summarizing case information.
  • File legal documents through traditional and electronic court filing systems; coordinate process serving as necessary.
  • Engage empathetically and professionally with clients, especially in sensitive or potentially escalated situations, providing support and clear communication.
  • Maintain thorough and accurate tracking of billable hours and assist in managing retainer balances and billing details.
  • Utilize technology including Mac OS, Google Workspace applications, and MyCase to streamline daily workflows.
  • Offer comprehensive attorney support for case preparation, legal strategy, and ongoing case management tasks.

Qualifications

  • At least 2–3 years of direct experience working as a paralegal within a family law setting under attorney supervision.
  • Bachelor’s degree required, plus completion of an ABA-approved paralegal certification program (Associate’s degree or equivalent in paralegal studies acceptable).
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Mac computers, Google Workspace, and CRM/legal management software.
  • Skilled in legal research and professional legal writing.
  • Exemplary integrity and discretion in safeguarding confidential materials.
  • Superior organization and time management skills, capable of managing competing priorities and multiple attorney assignments.
  • Strong written and verbal communication capabilities, fostering constructive relationships and client loyalty.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Hourly wage between $25 and $35, determined by experience and qualifications.
  • Opportunity for a competitive annual salary ($90,000–$180,000 possible in full-time roles), with performance-based bonuses.
