Position overview
American University of Sharjah’s Department of International Studies is seeking a full-time rolling-track faculty member in US History. The university is particularly interested in applicants whose teaching and scholarship emphasize diplomatic history, American foreign relations, cultural diplomacy, and transnational exchange.
The appointment starts in Fall 2026 and is open across ranks. The role includes teaching introductory survey courses in American history and world history, as well as existing advanced courses aligned with the candidate’s expertise. The successful hire will also design new courses in their specialization and may help support the department’s expanding graduate program.
Key duties
Faculty members are expected to contribute to teaching, research, and service within a lively interdisciplinary department. The standard teaching load is 3-3 for faculty who maintain a steady research record. The position also includes support for conference attendance, research travel, and access to internal research funding.
