Job description

Overview

The Facility Specialist is tasked with performing routine maintenance and repairs on electrical, mechanical, and other installed systems to guarantee safe and cost-efficient operation of the assigned facility, with a focus on preserving the asset's value over the long term.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the Facility Management team and assist the Facility Manager with budget preparation, cost monitoring, permit and license compliance, and selecting contractors for maintenance and facility operations.
  • Collaborate with Procurement, Sourcing, and Legal departments to provide guidance on contract drafting and negotiation of contract amendments.
  • Apply LEAN methodology to implement quality control programs, aiming to standardize and improve facility performance in alignment with the Global Facility Management strategy.
  • Engage in facility-related projects to support critical functions such as operations, maintenance, property management, engineering, and construction.
  • Oversee FM services, including operating systems of the facility, maintenance workflows, repairs, custodial duties, and security management.
  • Coordinate maintenance activities across departments to boost personnel efficiency and equipment utilization.
  • Advise on operational methods and equipment to lower Facility Management expenses by exploring new sources, alternative solutions, enhanced systems, service quality, and safety improvements.
  • Prepare contract scopes and specifications and manage facility service agreements related to maintenance.
  • Ensure adherence to standards for clean and orderly facilities and support operations through site-based audits.
  • Lead initiatives to establish and maintain a professional facility image.
  • Support Shared Base Support activities within the facility.
  • Execute improvement actions identified in FM Global or Facilities Scorecard assessments.

Required Qualifications

  • Associated degree, technical diploma, or equivalent qualification in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, Facilities Management, Industrial Maintenance, Building Services Engineering, Civil Engineering, or Construction Management.
  • Between 1 to 3 years of facility maintenance experience, industrial operations, oil and gas facilities, or building services background.
  • Preferred experience includes working with electrical systems, HVAC, fire protection, generators, uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), and mechanical equipment maintenance.
  • Proficient user of Microsoft Office suite.

Technical Skills

  • Ability to troubleshoot electrical and mechanical system issues.
  • Capability to coordinate both preventive and corrective maintenance tasks.
  • Skilled in interpreting technical drawings and equipment manuals.
  • Experienced in managing maintenance contractors and service providers.
  • Competent in monitoring facility compliance and certifications.
  • Effective in planning and tracking maintenance work orders.
  • Adept at supporting facility projects and capital expenditure improvements.

Working Conditions

  • Full-time role with standard working hours Monday through Friday.
  • Must be prepared to frequently travel between operational bases, workshops, warehouses, and other company locations.
  • Flexibility to work beyond regular hours including weekends and holidays to maintain operational continuity, manage facility outages, emergencies, and scheduled maintenance.
  • Participation in on-call rotation may be necessary to address facility incidents and operational emergencies.
