About Wētā Workshop
Wētā Workshop is a globally recognised creative design and manufacturing studio in Wellington, New Zealand. Its teams of artists, builders, and storytellers create everything from creatures, costumes, props, and miniatures to tours and large-scale immersive experiences, turning imaginative ideas into physical reality.
Role overview
The Facilities team keeps the workplace running smoothly so the crew can focus on delivering great work. The function covers premises management, security, cleaning, non-IT equipment, furniture, maintenance, health and safety, and related operational support.
Wētā Workshop is seeking an additional Facilities and Services Technician on a fixed-term basis through to mid-December 2026 to help keep facilities operating to a consistently high standard.
What you will do
- Carry out servicing, basic maintenance, fault-finding, and small repairs.
- Move furniture and help shift items in storage.
- Support the coordination of external contractors and service providers.
- Assist with room decoration and setup.
- Handle supplies and stock-related tasks.
- Plan and track work using the ticketing system.
What the role needs
This is a fast-paced position that suits someone who takes initiative naturally. Strong communication skills are important, both face to face and by email, and you should be comfortable working with a ticketing platform; training will be provided.
You should be physically capable, adaptable to changing priorities, and ready to get involved in a broad range of hands-on tasks. The team is open to shaping some duties around your experience, particularly if you have a background in metal fabrication, engineering, carpentry, or similar practical trades.
A full driver’s licence is required. Forklift certification would be an advantage, though it is not mandatory. Experience with Working at Heights and scissor lifts would also be beneficial.
Working arrangement
This is a Monday to Friday role. Occasional weekend work may be required, with time off in lieu provided in return.
How to apply and other notes
Applicants who need adjustments during the recruitment or interview process are encouraged to let the team know.
The successful candidate must complete a Ministry of Justice check as part of the hiring process.
The team is hoping for an immediate start.
