About the company

Wētā Workshop is known for creating highly detailed worlds and practical creations for film and related productions, including props, costumes, armour, creatures, miniatures, bigatures, and more. The finance team works closely with the wider business, using analysis and insight to support commercial decisions and help the organisation reach its goals.

Role overview

This Wellington-based opportunity has opened up after the previous Finance Business Partner moved on to a new role in Sydney. The business is looking for a commercially savvy finance professional to step in and partner with teams across the organisation.

What you will do

  • Prepare and present monthly financial reporting and analysis, including revenue, margin, and trend commentary to support decision-making and future planning.
  • Monitor and report both financial and non-financial KPIs to assess performance, recognise achievements, and spot potential risks early.
  • Work closely with business units to improve financial accuracy, strengthen shared understanding, and support overall business results.
  • Own annual budgeting and rolling forecasts across revenue, gross margin, expenses, and EBITDA, while also tracking pipeline and committed revenue to support resourcing and opportunity planning.
  • Improve finance processes and systems on an ongoing basis so the business receives support that is both efficient and cost-conscious.

What the business is looking for

The ideal candidate will bring solid experience in a commercial financial analysis role, preferably within manufacturing or services. You should be able to demonstrate experience in producing financial reporting and analysis, making commercially sound recommendations, building budgets and forecasts, and maintaining strong stakeholder relationships.

You must be CA qualified, or hold an equivalent qualification, and be comfortable using accounting and reporting software. This role is also very hands-on, so you will need to be equally capable of processing journals, reviewing AP runs, and contributing to finance strategy discussions with the business.
