Job Overview and Interview Details

A walk-in recruitment event is scheduled for Saturday, 1st August at the Tata Technologies office located in Bangalore. Candidates are expected to attend between 9 AM and 1 PM for profile shortlisting, a technical interview, tool test, and HR discussion.

Role Scope and Responsibilities

The Lead Engineer will hold accountability for decision-making and providing leadership to ensure delivery of commodities that meet defined attributes, costs, and timelines. This involves managing commodities, processes, suppliers, and collaborating with all stakeholders and cross-functional teams.

  • Expertise in product design of automotive exterior lids and closure components such as fuel filler flap, charge bowl, doors, tailgates, and hoods, along with understanding of related materials, manufacturing processes, and tooling concepts.
  • Understanding automotive exterior regulations and packaging constraints.
  • Ability to formulate teamwork strategies and prioritize work effectively.
  • Proficient with quality control methodologies including GD&T, DVA, DVP, DFMEA, and PPIR.
  • Ensuring sub-systems comply with attribute criteria, durability, thermal standards, weight, and cost objectives.
  • Providing support during vehicle launches and pre-production phases.
  • Supporting prototype part delivery to verify assembly function and commodity validation.
  • Excellence in communication across international cross-functional teams.
  • Hands-on experience using CATIA V5/V6 and Teamcenter.
  • Knowledge in problem-solving methodologies and root cause analysis is preferred.
  • Experience managing suppliers, including APQP documentation, cost, and timing reviews, is advantageous.
  • Experience in OEM leadership roles within commodities and carbon fiber commodity sectors is an added plus.
  • Upholding exceptional customer service standards and demonstrating urgency and dedication to goal achievement.
  • Capability to analyze and interpret information to make informed decisions and resolve issues.

Required Knowledge and Experience

  • 8 to 12 years of practical experience in the automotive sector with proven project management record delivering projects meeting time, cost, quality, and specification goals.
  • Experience in development or integration of automotive closure components such as charge bowls, fuel filler bowls and flaps, doors, hoods, and tailgates.
  • In-depth engineering knowledge of component or system design, function, performance, production, and manufacturing requirements.
  • Collaboration with suppliers and internal teams including manufacturing, CAE, and validation groups.
  • Proficiency in CAD software, particularly generating CAD data and master sections using CATIA V5/V6.
  • Strong familiarity with engineering tools such as FMEA, Six Sigma, and problem-solving frameworks.
  • Demonstrated history of successful delivery in automotive environments.

Skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills tailored to diverse audiences.
  • Deep understanding of closure systems functionality.
  • CAD literacy with CATIA V5/V6 expertise.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and Microsoft Project.
  • Strong analytical, logical, and critical thinking capabilities.

Qualifications

Degree in Mechanical, Production, or Automotive Engineering such as BE or B. Tech.

Additional Information

The role is based in Pune District, Maharashtra, India with full-time onsite employment. The lead engineer will drive delivery decision-making and cross-functional team management. Attendance at the walk-in interview event in Bangalore is required for initial selection.
