About the Role
Fulton Hogan is seeking a seasoned Temporary Traffic Management (TMP) Planner to join their Christchurch traffic management division. This role demands someone with hands-on experience in TMP who can design practical and compliant traffic management plans that effectively serve crews, clients, and road users.
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in preparing and obtaining approval for traffic management plans within New Zealand's context, especially in active operational settings.
Working collaboratively with operational leaders, STMSs, and project teams, the chosen professional will contribute to delivering traffic management solutions for a variety of infrastructure, maintenance, and construction projects across Canterbury. This position offers an opportunity to make a significant impact within a reputable infrastructure company, combining both autonomy and ample organizational support.
Key Responsibilities
- Create detailed TMPs and Temporary Traffic Management (TTM) drawings for civil works, maintenance, and infrastructure projects.
- Collaborate with operational teams, STMSs, project managers, and clients to produce functional and compliant plans.
- Oversee the entire TMP approval workflow and maintain strong relationships with Road Controlling Authorities and stakeholders.
- Analyze site needs, associated risks, and work methods to devise effective traffic control solutions.
- Offer technical guidance to operational staff, ensuring all TMP documentation is accurate and up to date.
- Contribute to ongoing process improvements and foster a safety-conscious culture company-wide.
Requirements
- Experience preparing, reviewing, and successfully securing approval for TMPs in New Zealand.
- Comprehensive knowledge of the New Zealand Guide to Temporary Traffic Management (NZGTTM) with real-world application experience.
- Prior work alongside STMSs, traffic management teams, and construction crews.
- Competency in using RapidPlan software.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong capabilities in planning, organizing, and resolving problems.
Preferred Qualifications and Experience:
- Current NZTA/Waka Kotahi TMP Planner certification and/or relevant NZQA unit standards.
- Background in civil construction, road maintenance, utilities, or infrastructure projects.
- Experience with risk assessment and traffic management audits.
- Previous senior-level TMP planning or coordination roles.
