Position Summary

The Executive Vice President of Operations plays a vital role on the executive leadership team by defining and implementing the company's operational strategy. This position oversees all operational areas within the homebuilding organization to ensure alignment with corporate objectives, financial goals, and sustainable growth. The role promotes operational excellence by creating scalable processes, enhancing performance, and supporting consistent market execution. Additionally, this leader influences strategic decisions and nurtures a high-performing culture focused on accountability, safety, and continuous improvement.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Develop and drive the enterprise-wide operational strategy that supports business growth and objectives.
  • Manage core operational functions including construction, procurement, land development, and customer experience.
  • Collaborate with the CEO and executive team to establish priorities and prepare operations for expansion.
  • Create and enforce standards, best practices, and scalable processes across various regions to ensure consistent performance.
  • Define and track performance indicators to enhance efficiency, quality, safety, and customer satisfaction.
  • Lead initiatives aimed at continuous improvement to optimize workflows, reduce expenses, and increase operational effectiveness.
  • Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and allocation of resources related to operations finance.
  • Analyze market trends and business outcomes to guide strategic planning and mitigate risks.
  • Mentor senior leaders to build organizational capabilities and ensure succession readiness.
  • Foster a culture characterized by accountability, collaboration, and excellence.
  • Serve as a representative in engagements with external partners, suppliers, and stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory, safety, and quality standards.

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • At least 12 years of progressively responsible leadership experience in operations, including executive-level roles in homebuilding, residential development, or a comparable sector.
  • Demonstrated success managing large, multi-regional operations and achieving measurable results.

Preferred Qualifications

  • An advanced degree such as an MBA or equivalent in a related area.
  • Over 16 years of relevant industry experience.

Key Skills and Competencies

  • Ability to provide strategic leadership and translate vision into effective execution across complex organizations.
  • In-depth knowledge of homebuilding operations, including construction, land development, and supply chain management.
  • Strong financial expertise managing enterprise-level budgets and operational performance.

Working Conditions

The role is primarily office-based with regular collaboration among departments and senior executives. Occasional field visits to construction sites are required to support operational assessments and cross-functional initiatives. Travel may be necessary for engaging multi-market operations, business reviews, and corporate meetings.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to remain seated for prolonged periods to perform administrative and strategic duties.
  • Capability to navigate construction sites with uneven terrain occasionally.
  • Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 20 pounds as needed.
  • Competency in operating standard office equipment.
  • Willingness and ability to travel to various company locations and job sites as required.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Base salary range from $220,000 to $260,000 annually.
  • Exempt status under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).
  • Year-end discretionary bonus opportunity.
