Vision

The Vice President of Operations will lead the Commercial Construction Business Units towards sustained success, maintaining competitiveness, fostering profitable growth, delivering steadfast support to employees, and providing efficient, responsive solutions to clients through operational excellence.

Overall Responsibilities

This leadership role is responsible for cultivating a collaborative and empowering culture where every team member feels valued and motivated to excel. By embracing innovative methods and advanced technologies, the VP aims to achieve exceptional operational efficiency and continuous improvement across all operational facets. Participation in driving and supporting the strategic plan is essential. The role is dedicated to people commitment, operational excellence, and sustainable profitable growth to advance every commercial project.

Organizational Structure and Operational Duties

  • Reports directly to the Executive Vice President of Commercial Operations.
  • Coordinates with Corporate Services Department Directors.
  • Leads key business unit meetings, ensuring adherence to metrics, processes, project forecasts, and audits.
  • Supports development of strategic and tactical goals, manages timelines, assigns responsibilities, tracks progress, anticipates challenges, fosters strengths, addresses performance issues, and celebrates achievements.
  • Creates and manages data analytics processes.
  • Develops meaningful performance metrics and enforces accountability.
  • Ensures excellent customer experience, problem-solving, and drives ongoing improvements.
  • Resolves operational problems ensuring consistency and compliance with company-wide policies.
  • Eliminates obstacles hindering operations.
  • Acts as mentor, advisor, and decision-making partner, assisting with opportunity evaluation and risk management.
  • Promotes continuous learning, improvement, and defines success even amidst challenges.
  • Maintains high visibility and approachability by actively resolving issues and contributing to business and company success.

Experience and Skills Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 10 to 15 years of experience in operations management within a commercial construction company generating $1 billion or more in revenue.
  • Customer-focused with a strategic and tactical mindset capable of anticipating and resolving issues quickly.
  • Exceptional communication skills including written, verbal, and presentation abilities, with emotional intelligence to empathize and connect.
  • Process-oriented with strong organizational skills, adept at using numerical data and business procedures.
  • Mental resilience, empathy, and leadership ability to guide teams effectively.
  • Technologically proficient, leveraging hardware and software to support data-driven decisions.
  • Deep understanding of construction industry leadership and market relevance.
  • Proven ability to coach, motivate, and foster inclusive, flexible work environments.
