Role Overview
The Executive Director of Technology Operations will own the day-to-day and strategic running of the technology function, making sure systems, infrastructure, delivery processes, and support operations are tightly connected to business goals. This leader acts as the link between technology strategy and execution, with a focus on governance, scalability, digital change, and cross-team coordination to support growth and innovation.
Technology Operations Strategy and Execution
- Create and roll out operating strategies for technology that support both company and technology priorities.
- Convert technology roadmaps into practical execution plans with clear outcomes.
- Improve performance across software delivery, infrastructure, cybersecurity, cloud operations, and IT support.
- Put governance structures in place to keep technology initiatives moving effectively.
Program and Portfolio Management
- Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of enterprise-wide technology programs and projects.
- Manage technology portfolios, budgets, staffing, and priority setting to increase business impact.
- Ensure delivery meets timelines, scope, and budget targets.
- Build executive-level dashboards and reporting tools to show technology performance.
Process Optimization and Governance
- Design, formalize, and maintain technology operating procedures, policies, and standards.
- Apply strong practices across SDLC, DevOps, ITSM, Agile, and project management.
- Raise operational efficiency through automation and better workflow design.
- Maintain adherence to internal controls, governance expectations, and regulatory obligations.
Infrastructure, Cloud, and Service Operations
- Manage enterprise infrastructure, cloud environments, networks, and operational support services.
- Protect system uptime, scalability, reliability, and overall performance.
- Strengthen service delivery through monitoring, incident handling, and root-cause resolution.
- Guide business continuity, disaster recovery, and resilience planning.
Cybersecurity, Risk, and Compliance
- Work closely with cybersecurity teams to protect systems, applications, and data.
- Identify and reduce risks linked to technology operations.
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, security standards, and governance requirements.
- Set up escalation and risk-management paths for urgent technology issues.
Data, Analytics, and Performance Management
- Define and track KPIs, SLAs, and operational performance measures for technology.
- Use analytics to improve efficiency and support better decisions.
- Prepare performance reporting for senior leadership.
- Lead continuous improvement efforts based on operational data and business needs.
Cross-functional Collaboration and Business Alignment
- Partner with product, engineering, IT, finance, HR, and business leaders to align operations with company priorities.
- Help technical and non-technical teams communicate effectively.
- Support enterprise transformation programs and technology-enabled growth.
- Coordinate work across global technology teams.
Leadership and Team Development
- Build, mentor, and lead high-performing technology operations teams.

Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related discipline is required. A master’s degree or MBA is preferred.
The position calls for at least 18 years of experience in technology operations, IT management, engineering operations, or a similar area, including 8+ years in senior leadership roles. Candidates should have a strong track record leading large-scale technology organizations, digital transformation efforts, and enterprise operations, along with solid experience in software development operations, cloud infrastructure, cybersecurity, and technology governance. Experience in multinational companies or fast-growing technology-led organizations is preferred.
