The Western in the World Global Engagement Plan (2023–2030) aims to expand internationalization through partnerships, joint research, student exchanges, and intercultural learning experiences.

Role Overview

The newly established Global Engagement unit within the President's Office seeks a visionary Executive Director to lead the university-wide global engagement mandate. Reporting directly to the President and Vice-Chancellor and collaborating with senior academic and administrative leaders, this position will drive the implementation of Western's global engagement strategy, foster impactful international collaborations, support coordinated global initiatives, and reinforce Western's global reputation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead execution and advancement of the global engagement strategy across the institution.
  • Establish and maintain high-impact international partnerships and global initiatives.
  • Coordinate international engagement efforts among faculties and administrative units.
  • Support leadership delegations and build relationships with governments, diplomatic entities, and international organizations.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Proven leadership experience in international relations, partnerships, and external engagement within complex organizations, preferably in higher education.
  • Deep knowledge of the global postsecondary education landscape.
  • Expertise advising senior leadership and navigating diverse cultural and political environments.
  • Strong ability to translate international opportunities into significant institutional benefits.
  • Exceptional communication skills, inspiring trust and confidence.
  • Demonstrated sound judgment and effective people leadership capabilities.
  • Competence in budget management and overseeing complex projects.

Additional Information

The role offers a competitive salary range of CAD 150,000 to 180,000.
