Job description
Position Overview
This role offers a starting salary of 34660 pounds per annum based on 36 hours per week, operating from the Guildford Adult Learning Centre. Surrey Adult Learning is proud to seek a new Exams Officer to join our dedicated team focused on delivering enriching educational experiences for adults in our community. The role plays a key part in the smooth running of examination processes across courses and Apprenticeship programmes.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee the administration of exams for the Surrey Adult Learning programme and Apprenticeship courses.
- Collaborate with senior leadership, curriculum teams, learning support coordinators, and centre staff to ensure compliance with exam procedures set by JCQ and awarding bodies.
- Provide guidance on examination timetables, applications, and requirements.
- Be prepared to work flexibly, including additional hours and some evenings during peak examination periods.
- Travel between different centres, requiring a full driving licence and vehicle access.

We offer an extensive range of daytime, evening, and Saturday courses, including ESOL, maths, digital skills, and personal development subjects. Candidate Requirements
- Previous experience as an Exams Officer or in exam administration within schools, FE colleges, or similar environments.
- Superb communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Strong organisational skills with capacity to multitask and meet deadlines.
- High precision and attention to detail in administrative tasks.
- Flexibility to adjust working hours during busy exam seasons.
- A full driving licence and vehicle for travelling to various Surrey locations.

Additional Information
A Basic DBS check is mandatory for this position. Surrey County Council is transitioning into two new unitary councils from April 2027, with roles transferring accordingly under existing terms.
