Job description
Role Summary
Curate Group is hiring an Event Operations Manager for its Lumos Experiences brand, based in Montclair, New Jersey. This position reports to the Head of Regional Events for New York/New Jersey and is set up as a full-time role running Tuesday through Saturday with a hybrid 3:2 working pattern.
Curate Group produces high-impact live experiences, including festivals, immersive concerts, cultural events, and corporate productions for well-known brands. Lumos Experiences is a signature live entertainment format featuring candlelit concerts staged in unusual spaces to create a memorable atmosphere. The team is expanding quickly across New York and New Jersey, and this role is central to keeping multiple weekly shows running smoothly as the business grows.
What the Role Involves
You will take ownership of operational planning and on-site delivery across several venues, making sure each event is safe, polished, and consistent. The position is best suited to someone who naturally notices what needs attention, works confidently without close supervision, and enjoys turning plans into action.
A regular presence at shows is part of the job, because staying close to the guest experience helps improve coaching, quality, and overall standards. The Tuesday to Saturday schedule reflects that on-the-ground operational focus.
Success Measures
Performance in this role will be judged by the quality and consistency of events, staffing effectiveness, sensible budget control, positive guest response, and the ability to support expansion in the region.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the complete event operations cycle for shows across New York and New Jersey, including advance planning, venue coordination, live execution, and post-event review.
- Build and maintain a detailed venue database covering layouts, access details, and key contacts, and work with venues on operating plans, advance sheets, emergency steps, and safety paperwork.
- Oversee recruitment, onboarding, scheduling, and development of weekend event teams, including Event Managers and Assistants, while keeping playbooks and training materials current.
- Coordinate with the Musician Booker to ensure artists are properly briefed and supported, and supervise production teams so technical and operational elements come together seamlessly.
- Create and refine operational processes across shows to improve consistency, reduce confusion, and increase efficiency.
- Track inventory, storage, equipment upkeep, and logistics so events are fully supplied and well organized.
- Be present at a minimum of two shows each month, with additional attendance during launches, training periods, and busier times.
- Prepare post-event summaries, review KPIs and customer feedback, and recommend improvements that keep Lumos competitive and forward-looking.
- Coordinate special venue needs such as permits, local compliance, vendor selection, and planning for unusual or non-traditional spaces.
- Handle venue insurance-related requirements, including COIs, vendor documents, permits, and compliance records, to ensure all events meet venue and local rules.
Candidate Profile
Curate Group is looking for someone with prior experience in event operations, production, or event management, ideally from live entertainment or hospitality. The ideal person is self-driven, steady under pressure, and able to lead a team while maintaining high standards.
You should be comfortable making decisions quickly, solving problems as they arise, juggling multiple priorities, and communicating effectively with a range of stakeholders. Experience managing budgets is important, as is a willingness to travel between locations when needed.
The role also calls for familiarity with Google Workspace, AI tools, and team collaboration platforms. A valid driving licence is required.
What’s Offered
- Competitive pay, with flexibility depending on experience and capability.
- Eligibility for a discretionary annual bonus tied to personal and business performance.
- Travel costs to shows are covered.
- 11 days of PTO, plus federal holidays and additional time off at Christmas.
- One extra day of annual leave for each year of service, up to 3 additional days.
- Your birthday is off, or you may take another day during the same month.
- Health insurance coverage.
- 401(k) retirement plan.
- Maternity and paternity leave policy.
- A flexible hybrid setup with 3 days in the office and 2 days at home or on-site when needed.
- Clear opportunities for growth and career advancement as the company expands.
Working Pattern
This is a full-time position with a Tuesday-to-Saturday schedule. The working arrangement is hybrid, with three days in the office and two days from home or on-site as required.
Salary
The employer states that compensation will be competitive and adjusted based on the candidate’s background and skills, but no fixed amount was provided.
