Position Overview

Dillon Engineering Services seeks a skilled Estimator to join their expanding team in County Mayo. This permanent full-time role is centered around civil engineering projects including roads, bridges, infrastructure, and commercial buildings. The Estimator will contribute significantly by delivering precise and commercially viable cost evaluations to support the company's growth through competitive tender submissions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop accurate and commercially sound cost estimates for construction projects.
  • Pricing of civil engineering works including roads, bridges, and commercial infrastructure.
  • Thoroughly review tender documentation such as drawings, specifications, and bills of quantities.
  • Prepare comprehensive tender submissions along with all necessary accompanying documents.
  • Coordinate with quantity surveyors, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams to gather relevant information.
  • Analyze costs related to labor, materials, plant equipment, and subcontractors rigorously.
  • Identify potential risks along with opportunities and propose value engineering solutions.
  • Utilize estimating software and Microsoft Excel for cost planning, reporting, and process efficiency.
  • Assist in enhancing current estimating methodologies and systems.
  • Ensure a smooth transition by passing successful tender details to project delivery teams.

Essential Qualifications and Skills

  • Proven experience as an Estimator within the construction or civil engineering sectors.
  • Strong expertise in civil and infrastructure projects including roads, bridges, and commercial constructions.
  • Skilled in interpreting complex drawings, tender documents, and specifications.
  • High level of commercial acumen combined with cost analysis proficiency.
  • Advanced use of Microsoft Excel and specialized estimating software.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and ability to work under stringent deadlines.
  • A background in quantity surveying, engineering, or construction management is advantageous.
  • Availability to work full-time onsite at the Mayo office.
