Estimator - Mechanical and Electrical (M&E)

Role overview

This opportunity is for an experienced Mechanical and Electrical (M&E) Estimator to join a busy Project Division within a major infrastructure business in the South West, based in Somerset. The position focuses on producing reliable tender submissions and cost planning support for a range of building services projects.

What you will do

• Prepare accurate project tenders and cost plans for M&E and building services work.
• Review technical drawings and specifications to build well-informed estimates.
• Work across HVAC, electrical, and plumbing disciplines when pricing projects.
• Use estimating tools and Microsoft Office to support bid preparation and commercial analysis.
• Apply strong commercial judgement and close attention to detail throughout the estimating process.

Requirements

• Between 3 and 5 years of experience in an estimating role within building services or the M&E sector.
• Solid understanding of HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems.
• Demonstrated ability to prepare and submit accurate tenders and cost plans.
• Confidence in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and technical documents.
• Hands-on experience with estimating software and Microsoft Office.
• Strong commercial awareness and a careful, detail-focused approach.

Preferred background

• HNC, HND, or a degree in Building Services, Quantity Surveying, or a closely related subject.
• Previous experience on commercial, residential, and public sector projects.

Compensation and benefits

The salary range is £60,000 to £65,000 per year, with the final offer depending on experience, plus additional benefits.
