Estimator - Commercial Roofing

About the Role

We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Estimator specializing in commercial roofing to join our dynamic construction team based in Columbia, SC. This permanent full-time position involves preparing detailed cost analyses and managing budgets for large-scale projects including built-up roofing, modified bitumen, standing seam roofing, painting, waterproofing, and ELITE roofing and repair maintenance services.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop comprehensive cost estimates incorporating labor, materials, and time required for construction projects.
• Assess cost-efficiency by monitoring actual costs versus projected bids throughout project progression.
• Liaise with clients, vendors, and internal teams to formulate estimates and resolve related queries.
• Conduct specialized studies to establish cost standards and identify potential expense reductions.
• Analyze material and labor demands to decide between in-house production or purchasing components.
• Produce estimates that aid management in planning, organizing, and scheduling operations.
• Generate periodic cost and expenditure reports during projects.
• Collaborate closely with engineers, architects, owners, contractors, and subcontractors to accommodate changes affecting cost estimates.
• Prepare clear reports and presentations to communicate estimates and proposals effectively.

Candidate Profile and Requirements

• Minimum five years of estimating experience within the construction industry.
• Expert knowledge of roofing systems such as built-up roofing, modified bitumen, standing seam roofing, painting, and waterproofing.
• Proven experience with ELITE roofing and ongoing repair maintenance services.
• Solid grasp of cost management, project estimation, and budgeting principles.
• Advanced analytical capabilities for creating and managing financial spreadsheets.
• Excellent communication to confidently present complex financial information.
• Strong negotiation skills to ensure competitive pricing from suppliers and contractors.
• Ability to manage stressful situations and meet tight deadlines.
• Proficiency in MS Office suite and relevant database software.
• Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or a related discipline preferred.
• Professional certification such as Certified Professional Estimator (CPE) is advantageous.
