Job description

About the Role

This remote internship with ESPN offers an early-career video editor the chance to build professional experience in a fast-moving sports newsroom. The work centers on creating, editing, and packaging trending video for ESPN digital channels, with exposure to both domestic and international content. The internship is expected to run from September 2026 through December 2026.

Key Responsibilities

  • Spot timely game moments and social trends, then turn them into engaging digital video pieces.
  • Work with internal and external partners to produce and share videos that connect with new audiences.
  • Review performance data and suggest improvements that can drive stronger engagement.
  • Keep projects moving on schedule by managing production timelines carefully.
  • Stay up to date on platform trends, new tools, and editing best practices, including those relevant to YouTube and other ESPN channels.

Required Qualifications

  • Background in digital or social media with exposure to video production and content creation.
  • Hands-on ability with non-linear editing software such as Premiere, Final Cut, Avid, Quantel, or After Effects.
  • Good awareness of current sports news, major teams, players, and broader cultural moments.
  • Ability to monitor and understand social media trends.
  • Strong headline writing and content packaging skills, along with an understanding of distribution strategies.
  • Comfort juggling several assignments at once while maintaining accuracy in a high-pressure production setting.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience editing video for multiple social media platforms.
  • Ability to produce and refine content designed for mobile-first viewing.
  • Familiarity with digital content management systems used to organize, publish, and maintain video assets.

Education

Preference is given to students in their senior year. Communications, Journalism, Sports Media, or a related field is preferred.

Eligibility and Program Requirements

  • Applicants must be enrolled in an accredited college or university, taking at least one class at the time of application, or currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Internship.
  • Current Disney Interns, College Program, International Program, or Culinary Program participants may work for only one continuous year (12 months) across any combination of internship and/or program participation.
  • Applicants must be at least 18 years old.
  • Unrestricted work authorization is required.

Additional Information

This internship requires a dependable schedule throughout the assignment. Because the role is remote, candidates must have a reliable internet connection and a quiet, dedicated workspace. The position may require different shifts, including nights and weekends, and the weekly commitment is 40 hours.

Compensation and Benefits

The pay rate for this role is $22.50 per hour. Select benefits may be included as part of the compensation package, such as medical, financial, and other benefits, depending on the level and position offered.
