About the Role and Employer
Join G4S Care and Rehabilitation Services at HMP & YOI Parc located in Bridgend, CF35 6AP. This full-time, permanent position offers a salary of 27865 per annum with benefits including a company pension, free on-site parking, access to an on-site canteen, ongoing professional training, and High Street shop discounts.
Within our care and rehabilitation philosophy, we aim to prepare offenders for reintegration into society by normalizing prison conditions to mirror life outside. A fundamental aspect is fostering a safe atmosphere and reducing prison-related stress through respectful and supportive relationships between staff and prisoners. HMP & YOI Parc holds 1038 male adult prisoners and young offenders in a secure but modern facility.
Key Duties
- Implement G4S CaRS procedures to escort contractors and visitors safely across the prison grounds managed by G4S.
- Ensure safe and effective management of contractor and visitor movements complying with health and safety legislation.
- Contribute to the creation and ongoing review of contractor control policies, including procedures, risk assessments, and record keeping.
- Collaborate with maintenance staff of various skill levels to assist with maintenance tasks as needed.
- Maintain security awareness within the prison context, managing key locking and tool control when escorting contractors.
- Conduct routine inspections of contractor activities, ensuring adherence to safety standards to uphold a secure environment.
- Promote a positive health and safety culture on site, lead by example, promptly report incidents, and apply safe work practices.
Candidate Profile
The ideal individual will have experience in a maintenance setting with a solid understanding of health and safety principles to effectively regulate contractor activities within the estate. Additional desirable qualifications or experiences include:
- BSC Level 1 Health & Safety certification
- Possession of a full, clean driving license
- Experience in building and facilities maintenance
