About the Role

In this vital position, you will perform a comprehensive range of cleaning and support activities spanning regular, terminal, and isolation cleaning, especially in specialized hospital environments such as Operating Rooms, Cath Labs, GI Labs, pharmacies, and labor and delivery areas.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Execute thorough cleaning of patient rooms and restrooms following designated protocols for regular, terminal, and isolation environments.
- Ensure strict infection prevention by selecting and properly applying appropriate cleaning agents and following safety procedures.
- Maintain cleanliness of walls, doors, windows, furniture, equipment, and floors using various cleaning techniques including dust and wet mopping.
- Handle proper disposal and transport of various waste types, including solid, biohazard, chemotherapy, pharmaceutical, and hot waste, complying with all regulations and guidelines.
- Utilize Ultra Violet Light devices safely and effectively during cleaning operations.
- Change, remove, and replace containers such as sharps, pharmacy waste, biohazard, and chemotherapy waste receptacles following proper protocols.
- Wear appropriate personal protective equipment correctly to safeguard self and others at all times.
- Exhibit excellent customer service skills by positively interacting with staff, patients, visitors, and family members.
- Participate actively in special projects and performance improvement initiatives as assigned.
- Document daily completed tasks and adjust to staffing needs, covering other areas as requested.
- Use hospital systems such as Epic to assist in maintaining efficient patient and bed flow.
Qualifications and Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED preferred.
- Some prior experience in a similar role preferred but not mandatory.
- Ability to read, write, and comprehend simple instructions in English, with fluency in spoken English.
- Successful completion of departmental training within the first 30 days of employment.
- Mandatory possession of required certifications upon hire.
