Job description
Role overview
A well-established MedTech manufacturer in County Mayo is looking to add an experienced Environmental Health & Safety Specialist to its site team on a permanent full-time basis. This is a practical, wide-ranging position that covers the complete EHS remit, including regulatory adherence, environmental controls, occupational health and safety risk management, and incident handling.
Key responsibilities
- Support the roll-out and ongoing enhancement of site EHS policies, procedures, and programmes.
- Make sure the site remains compliant with Irish EHS legislation, company-wide standards, and ISO-based management systems.
- Oversee both hazardous and non-hazardous waste processes, including coordination and monitoring of external vendors.
- Carry out risk assessments, GEMBA walks, internal audits, and reviews connected to EHS-related changes.
- Take the lead on, or assist with, incident investigations, using thorough root-cause analysis and tracking corrective and preventive actions.
- Manage the Emergency Response Team programme, including preparedness drills and response readiness.
- Track, maintain, and report on EHS KPIs, while also contributing to cross-functional improvement initiatives.
Candidate profile
The hiring team is seeking someone with a third-level qualification in EHS, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a closely related subject, along with at least 5 years of experience in EHS within manufacturing or another highly regulated setting. Familiarity with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 would be a strong advantage. The ideal person will communicate clearly, be able to influence stakeholders at different levels, and work well on their own while juggling multiple priorities.
