About the Company
Avani Consulting is facilitating recruitment for a leading pharmaceutical company located in Nanjangud, India. The company specializes in pharma operations and is looking to hire an Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Trainee.
Job Overview and Responsibilities
The role involves overseeing the shift-wise operation and maintenance of the Environmental Health and Safety systems across the pharmaceutical site. It includes issuing permits for hazardous and non-hazardous work, regularly inspecting EHS activities across production plants and the overall site, and conducting workplace survey studies following established procedures.
The trainee will also ensure proper functionality and upkeep of safety measurement devices such as multi-gas detectors, oxygen meters, lux meters, noise dosimeters, and surface resistivity meters. Regular inspection and maintenance of fire safety equipment including fire hydrants, extinguishers, and alarm systems will be a key responsibility, along with monitoring personal protective equipment, safety showers, and first aid kits as per planned schedules.
Safety compliance will be enforced by monitoring adherence to safety protocols, organizing mock drills across shifts, facilitating EHS safety committee meetings, and following up on corrective actions for incidents or near misses. The trainee will co-ordinate safety induction and fire safety training for new hires and ensure material safety data sheets (SDS) availability for all chemicals used.
Additional duties include overseeing environmental treatment plants (ETP & STP) on a shift basis, maintaining EHS documentation aligned with statutory and company norms, managing hazardous waste disposal according to Karnataka State Pollution Control Board guidelines, and conducting monthly safety inspections.
The trainee will also be responsible for inspecting emergency cupboards, spill control kits, fire hydrant pumps daily, and sprinkler systems as mandated. Conducting risk assessments, HAZOP studies, and environmental aspect impact evaluations forms part of the role. In emergency situations, the trainee will coordinate with site controllers for 24/7 incident management and ensure the operational readiness of emergency response equipment.
Eligibility Criteria
- Any graduate or diploma holder.
- Essential to have a diploma in Fire and Safety.
Salary & Working Conditions
Salary will be provided as per company standards, within a range of 50000 to 250000 INR annually. The position requires presence onsite in Nanjangud.
