About the Company

Avira Naturals Private Limited is a sustainable manufacturer in India, specializing in eco-friendly molded fiber food packaging and dinnerware. Established in October 2021, the company runs a large-scale 188,000-square-foot facility in Gujarat, producing up to 600 tonnes monthly of compostable products using premium sugarcane pulp (bagasse) and purified reverse osmosis water.

Role Overview

The Environmental Health and Safety Officer will oversee the entire EHS function to enhance productivity while ensuring environmental protection. This includes devising and advancing EHS strategies, implementing effective engineering controls, and fostering safe workplaces by reviewing EHS metrics and providing actionable solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage all aspects of the EHS functions within the organization.
  • Develop and advance EHS processes aimed at improving productivity and minimizing environmental impact.
  • Enhance organizational EHS practices through systematic review of metrics and delivering solutions for workplace safety.
  • Support EHS goals through planning audits and inspections, investigating EHS incidents, preventing hazards, and driving improvement projects and training programs.
  • Monitor changes in government regulations and communicate necessary adaptations to management, ensuring regulatory compliance.
  • Establish and implement ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems aligned with standards and organizational requirements.
  • Create and maintain EHS Standard Operating Procedures aligned with process needs and legal norms.
  • Develop, execute, and communicate EHS budgets, policies, and SOPs to comply with evolving business and legal environments, facilitating scalable improvements.
  • Conduct environmental health and safety programs and manage resolution of employee EHS concerns to maintain positive employee relations.
  • Provide guidance and assistance in planning and executing safety projects, deploying pollution control systems, and engineering controls to achieve organizational EHS objectives.
  • Ensure adherence to legislative requirements and assist in preparing related reports and returns.
  • Carry out regular safety inspections of the facility, identify issues, and recommend corrective actions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Fire and Safety or Diploma in Industrial Safety, or degree in Fire and Safety Engineering.
