Job Overview
We are seeking a proactive and passionate Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Coordinator dedicated to upholding exceptional standards in health, safety, and environmental compliance within a hospitality setting. The role involves leadership in EHS practices, food safety, and sustainability, ensuring a safe and healthy environment for employees and guests while supporting corporate social responsibility efforts.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform daily inspections aligned with food safety standards across kitchens, outlets, storage areas, receiving points, engineering, and waste management zones.
- Inspect workspaces and guest areas daily to ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety standards across all hotel departments.
- Monitor and follow-up on corrective actions implemented by various departments.
- Provide comprehensive training on EHS and food safety policies and procedures to all employees.
- Organize and coordinate EHS meetings, preparing detailed minutes for review.
- Conduct thorough induction training for contractors and staff regarding EHS and food safety management systems.
- Carry out inspections of contractors working on hotel premises to ensure safety compliance.
- Support other departments with risk assessments, incident investigations, and completion of corrective actions.
- Schedule audits alongside the Environmental Health and Safety Manager, particularly for suppliers and contractors.
- Maintain and review monthly records related to EHS management systems and food safety compliance.
- Participate actively in EHS, HACCP, ISO, sustainability, and occupational health and safety management system audits.
- Collaborate with departments to drive corporate social responsibility initiatives benefiting the environment and community.
- Supervise and promote implementation of environmental programs such as Rotana Earth within the hotel.
- Operate procedures that safeguard the health and safety of guests and employees while conserving environmental resources.
- Adhere strictly to hotel environmental, health, and safety policies and procedures.
Occupational Health and Safety Specific Duties
- Develop, periodically review, and update Occupational Health and Safety Management System (OHSMS) manuals, policies, and procedures.
- Lead the rollout of the OHS system and oversee its monitoring through inspections, OHS meetings, and management reviews with department heads and operational teams.
- Engage actively in setting and reviewing EHS objectives and targets in coordination with hotel management.
- Ensure new hires complete relevant OHS training tailored to their job roles; report EHS performance to senior management and regulatory authorities as required.
- Stay current with legal requirements, ensuring they are communicated and enforced across the hotel.
- Coordinate and execute audits and inspections to secure adherence to OHS regulations, sharing findings and strategies to maintain compliance with regulatory standards.
- Conduct periodic risk assessments of hotel areas jointly with relevant departments, instituting control measures as needed.
Qualifications and Experience
- Degree in Health & Safety, Food Safety, Environmental Science, Sustainability, or related fields.
- Minimum 1 to 3 years’ experience in EHS, Food Safety, or Sustainability roles within hospitality or comparable high-risk operational environments.
- Professional certifications like NEBOSH, IOSH, ISO 22000, ISO 45001, HACCP, or Lead Auditor certification are highly advantageous.
- Proficiency in computer usage and strong verbal and written communication skills in English; Arabic language skills are an additional asset.
