Job description

Overview

We seek a dedicated Environmental Consultant to contribute to the successful delivery of a 130MW utility-scale solar farm located in County Meath, Ireland. This position supports the Principal Contractor Safety Coordinator (PSCS) to ensure that all environmental standards and regulatory requirements are met throughout the construction phase. The role is hybrid, necessitating 2-3 days on site weekly with flexibility for remote work during other days.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and enforce the implementation of the Construction Environmental Management Plan (CEMP), ensuring all site operations remain compliant.
  • Carry out noise monitoring aligned with project and statutory standards.
  • Manage waste handling and disposal processes, ensuring correct storage and comprehensive documentation.
  • Monitor potential land contamination risks and address them proactively.
  • Implement and regulate silt control measures and safeguard against surface water pollution.
  • Coordinate activities with external environmental consultants and specialists.
  • Maintain active communication with stakeholders such as ESB, Environmental Clerk of Works (ECoW), and regulatory authorities.
  • Control and oversee invasive species management in accordance with environmental protocols.
  • Keep accurate records and compile environmental compliance reports.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in environmental roles within construction, infrastructure, or renewable energy sectors.
  • Strong understanding of environmental compliance and monitoring methods during construction phases.
  • Familiarity with CEMP execution and environmental management systems.
  • Effective coordination and communication skills with clients, contractors, and regulatory bodies.
  • Sound knowledge of environmental legislation and best practices from Ireland or the UK.
  • Excellent organizational capability and ability to operate independently or collaboratively on site teams.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Experience associated with solar energy, renewable projects, or major infrastructure developments.
  • Previous collaboration with ESB or similar utility companies.
  • Academic background in ecology, environmental science, or closely related fields.
  • Familiarity with ECoW procedures and environmental permitting processes.
