Job description
About Buena
Buena is revolutionizing real estate by integrating technology into every facet of the industry—from property search, financing, purchasing, to management. They acquire property management companies across Germany and transform them into tech-driven operations. Within less than three years and with a lean headquarters team of under 25 people, Buena ranks as Germany's second-largest property manager. The company's vision is to become the next trillion-dollar real estate enterprise by operating the industry rather than merely selling software.
Role Overview: Entrepreneur in Residence
The Entrepreneur in Residence will spearhead a new revenue vertical from its inception, expanding adjacent business lines that enhance the comprehensive real estate experience for Buena's customers. Potential verticals include brokerage services, energy and metering solutions, insurance, and financing, each representing multi-billion-euro markets. This role entails full ownership of the profit and loss accounts, strategic planning, partnership development, and product management for the assigned vertical.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the profit and loss for your assigned business vertical, focusing on revenue generation, margins, and payback periods.
- Lead product development proactively by defining feature requirements, authoring specifications, collaborating directly with product managers and engineers, and overseeing delivery.
- Develop a replicable rollout strategy to scale successes across all portfolio companies, managing over 60,000 units.
Candidate Profile
- Experience in founding or scaling a business, creating products, or freelancing with self-driven initiative.
- Strong commercial acumen with an emphasis on unit economics, margins, deal structure, and payback analysis.
- A rapid learner able to master new domain expertise—specifically brokerage and banking—within two months through rigorous research and strategic thinking.
- Decisive and agile, with the ability to make reversible decisions quickly and adapt based on new information.
- Proven sales ability demonstrated by closing deals or securing partnerships and funding.
- Native-level proficiency in German to engage with partners, regulators, and clients effectively.
- Willingness and ability to work full-time from Buena’s office located in Prenzlauer Berg, Berlin.
Additional Qualifications
The ideal candidate has a strong ownership mentality, capable of independently navigating challenges and driving their vertical forward.
Onboarding and Initial 90 Days
- Days 1–14: Immersive training in property management tasks including customer support, onboarding, document digitization, cost audits, and operational problem-solving to understand core systems and economics.
- Days 14–30: Begin crafting a detailed 90-day execution plan outlining key bets, metrics, and resources; visit portfolio companies; register for the WEG Verwalter certification examination.
- Days 30–60: Execute early initiatives delivering measurable results such as revenue growth, partner agreements, or successfully closed pilots.
- Days 60–90: Gain WEG Verwalter certification, fully assume vertical leadership, resolve related issues independently, record initial profits, and plan subsequent growth phases.
Compensation and Benefits
- Up to €500 relocation bonus for living within a 10–20 minute walk of the office.
- Monthly allowances including €110 for meals and €50 for fitness.
- Annual education budget of €1,200 and funding for any books that support professional development.
Why Join Buena?
- Work in a rapidly growing, meritocratic environment that rewards impact and offers swift career progression.
- Become part of a close-knit office culture that values personal connections and collaborative teamwork.
- Contribute to raising homeownership rates in Germany, empowering wealth creation for a wide audience.
