Job description
About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) Specialist to join the Decision Support & Risk Management Department (DS&RMD). This department, operating under the Strategy & Market Analysis (S&MA) organization, functions as a central advisory body for company management. DS&RMD offers integrated decision support across various domains including energy markets, outlooks, oil pricing, macroeconomic analysis, economic evaluations, international energy policies, regulations, and risk management. A core function of DS&RMD is to facilitate a comprehensive, corporate-wide ERM framework. This involves supporting both Corporate Management and business units in developing, implementing, and continuously refining risk management practices to enhance strategic decision-making and bolster organizational resilience.
In this primary role, you will be instrumental in developing, implementing, and overseeing the company’s global ERM framework. Your responsibilities will include ensuring the consistent and proactive identification, assessment, monitoring, and reporting of risks across the entire enterprise, encompassing corporate entities, subsidiaries, and joint ventures.
Key Responsibilities
- Align risk management strategies with the company’s Operational Excellence framework and overarching strategic objectives.
- Initiate and manage periodic independent reviews of the ERM program, presenting key findings to senior leadership.
- Provide consistent updates and briefings to the President & CEO, Group Executive Committee, and Board-level risk committees regarding significant and emerging risks.
- Maintain oversight of the company’s Top Corporate Risks (TCRs), including their reporting, validation, and the tracking of mitigation efforts.
- Ensure that Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) are updated accurately and in a timely manner for corporate-level reporting.
- Spearhead the annual Corporate Risk Assessment process, engaging all business lines and affiliates.
- Guide global organizations in the identification, assessment, and reporting of risks, ensuring adherence to standardized templates and practices.
- Review risk registers to confirm proper ownership, accountability, and the establishment of action plans for identified risks.
- Develop and maintain essential tools, templates, and guidance materials for decision risk assessments.
- Evaluate submissions to Executive and Investment Committees to ensure the adequacy of risk assessments.
- Offer consultative support to project proponents, assisting them in integrating risk insights into their strategic proposals.
- Implement and manage a unified ERM approach for all subsidiaries.
- Conduct regular assessments of risk programs to ensure alignment and adequacy.
- Deliver training and support to affiliate teams on risk identification and management techniques.
- Cultivate a risk-aware organizational culture through continuous education, communication, and engagement at all levels.
- Act as the central point of contact for all risk-related inquiries and initiatives on a global scale.
Minimum Requirements
- Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Economics, Business Administration, Accounting, Financial Management, Risk Management, or a closely related field from an accredited institution. An advanced degree is considered a plus.
- Possess a minimum of 10 years of experience in governance, risk, and compliance domains.
- Experience working with Enterprise Risk Management, Project Risk Management, IT Risk Management, Loss Prevention, Internal Audit, HAZOP, or other risk management processes is highly preferred.
- Demonstrate excellent analytical, communication, and strategic thinking capabilities.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision on tasks that may be unstructured.
Additional Information
Professional certifications from the Institute of Risk Management (IRM), Professional Risk Managers International Association, and the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) are advantageous.
