We are currently inviting applications for a fixed-term, full-time English/Speech & Drama Teacher to join ACG Parnell College, located in Auckland, New Zealand. This co-educational, independent school covers Years 0 to 13 and follows the Cambridge curriculum.

Role Summary

The teacher will foster an enriching, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment to assist students beginning their educational journey. The role involves delivering differentiated and high-quality instruction in English and performing arts, focusing on academic excellence, wellbeing, and a passion for learning to support primary school transitions. Experience in both English and performing arts instruction is highly valued.

Core Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging, curriculum-aligned teaching and assessment programs that meet school quality standards.
• Establish a positive and well-managed classroom atmosphere conducive to student success.
• Inspire and motivate learners towards academic achievement and foster autonomous learning skills.
• Assess, track, and report on student progress with accurate academic documentation.
• Design lesson materials, assessments, and extension tasks that support learning objectives.
• Utilize educational technologies to enhance instructional delivery and student participation.
• Provide academic guidance and pastoral care, including responsibilities as a tutor.
• Maintain professional communications with students, parents, and colleagues.
• Engage in continued professional development and performance evaluations to maintain teaching expertise.
• Participate actively in school community events and activities beyond the classroom.

Ideal Candidate Profile

• Demonstrates mastery in planning and delivering educational units aligned with the New Zealand Curriculum, employing valid assessment and maintaining detailed progress records.
• Establishes a purpose-driven, organized learning setting, assigning relevant homework and extension activities to support diverse learners.
• Designs and moderates assessments, offers timely feedback, and professionally communicates with stakeholders.
• Confident in integrating modern pedagogical methods and technologies such as inquiry-based learning, design thinking, and workshops to cultivate problem-solving and curiosity.
• Adopts a consistent, equitable, and calm approach to pastoral care and classroom behavior management, supporting academic and wellbeing needs while enforcing school policies.
• Shows a collaborative spirit through resource sharing, professional learning development participation, and contributing positively to school-wide initiatives.
