Job Overview
Aldar Education is seeking a dedicated English and Media Studies Teacher to join Yas American Academy on Yas Island, Abu Dhabi, starting August 2026. The academy offers a robust educational environment incorporating the Massachusetts Common Core Curriculum alongside local subjects including Arabic, Islamic Studies, and Social Studies. The school's facilities are top-notch, featuring large sports fields, swimming pools, a well-stocked library, multipurpose sports hall, auditorium, and play areas.
Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging and inspiring lessons to maximize student achievement.
- Collaborate effectively with colleagues in planning and coordinating curriculum and lessons.
- Maintain clear and professional communication with all levels of the school community, including students, parents, and staff.
- Develop positive relationships within the school environment to support student success.
- Use appropriate teaching resources and organize classrooms to foster a stimulating learning atmosphere.
- Plan and adapt lessons to meet the diverse abilities and needs of students.
- Evaluate and assess students’ progress, using assessment data to inform future teaching strategies.
- Work alongside specialist professionals such as speech and language therapists and educational psychologists as needed.
- Embed the school's values and educational framework in everyday teaching and interactions.
- Manage classroom behavior according to school policies to promote a positive, disciplined learning environment.
- Participate actively in school activities, including extracurricular events and parent-teacher meetings.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in English or Media Studies.
- Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) or Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) required.
- Experience in international schooling is preferred.
- Proven ability working with students for whom English is an additional language.
