About the Role
Located in Skelmersdale, this is a pivotal leadership position responsible for ensuring safe, compliant, and sustainable engineering operations at the site. The role demands collaboration with senior leaders to guarantee that all statutory and regulatory obligations are fully met while advancing efficiency, reliability, and environmental performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and lead site-wide engineering compliance initiatives.
- Ensure adherence to all statutory, regulatory, insurer, and internal engineering standards.
- Manage audits and inspections, ensuring timely completion of all corrective actions.
- Supervise compliance pertaining to electrical systems, legionella control, pressure systems (PSSR), lifting operations (LOLER), local exhaust ventilation (LEV), F Gas regulations, fire protection, and process safety systems.
- Guarantee that competent duty holders are appointed and all necessary documentation is maintained.
- Provide technical leadership for utilities and plant systems, monitoring performance, analyzing trends, and driving improvements.
- Champion efficiency, reliability, sustainability, and energy management throughout the site.
- Introduce new technologies and best practices to optimize operational outcomes.
- Administer facilities and utilities service contracts with a focus on robust facility management and contractor governance, ensuring safe systems of working and high safety standards across the site.
- Promote a culture emphasizing continuous improvement and engineering excellence.
- Lead, mentor, and develop team members, communicating risks, performance, and improvement strategies to stakeholders effectively.
- Support the achievement of operational and business goals.
Candidate Profile
- Demonstrated experience in engineering compliance, utilities, or facilities management within manufacturing or industrial settings.
- Deep understanding of UK statutory compliance and engineering-related standards.
- Proven capability in managing contractors and service providers.
- Strong leadership qualities, able to influence and collaborate effectively across diverse site functions.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving acumen with a focus on continuous improvement and sustainability.
- Proactive, safety-oriented mindset.
- Effective stakeholder management skills and commitment to operational excellence principles.
- Ability to balance compliance demands with cost management and performance targets.

Additional Information
