Responsibilities include preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, calibration, supporting automation, and managing energy efficiency—all while safeguarding process integrity, equipment availability, and legal compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain HT/LT power distribution systems, transformers, DG sets, various panels (PCC, MCC, APFC), bus ducts, VFDs, UPS systems, batteries, earthing, and lightning protection ensuring uninterrupted power supply, correct load distribution, power factor health, and adherence to electrical safety standards.
- Perform maintenance and calibration of a wide range of instrumentation such as flow meters (electromagnetic, ultrasonic, mass), pressure and differential transmitters, temperature sensors, level transmitters, analyzers for conductivity, pH, ORP, DO, turbidity, TOC, chlorine, silica, resistivity—all ensuring precise process measurements and calibration traceability.
- Support and maintain PLC and SCADA systems including Siemens, Allen Bradley, Schneider, Mitsubishi platforms; monitor PLC logic, troubleshoot automation issues, confirm control interlocks, manage alarms, backup programs, and work with OEMs on software updates.
- Maintain instrumentation for RO, EDI, and UPW systems and oversee measurements such as resistivity, voltage, current efficiency, and flow to maintain optimal function.
- Supervise instrumentation related to STP-MBR systems including DO sensors, MLSS and TMP monitoring, permeate flows, and aeration controls to ensure stable biological treatment processes.
- Manage electrical systems for ZLD and ATFD including drive systems, instrumentation for steam and crystallizer controls, and monitoring heater and steam efficiency to optimize energy use.
- Implement preventive and predictive maintenance protocols including routine inspections, thermal scanning, insulation resistance and earth resistance testing, loop checking, and instrument health assessments.
- Ensure calibration schedules are maintained, records are traceable and compliant with NABL standards, and all calibration documentation is up-to-date.
- Monitor energy consumption metrics, identify inefficiencies, participate in energy audits, and support initiatives to improve sustainability and reduce power costs.
- Analyze breakdown causes such as motor trips, VFD faults, PLC failures, and instrument errors taking corrective and preventive action to minimize downtime.
- Manage spare part inventories including transmitters, sensors, VFD and PLC components, relays, control cables, and instrument fittings, ensuring critical spare availability and timely procurement.
- Comply with statutory safety and regulatory requirements including the Factory Act, Indian Electricity Rules, CEA regulations, and EHS procedures. Implement safety systems such as Lockout-Tagout (LOTO), electrical permits to work, arc flash protocols, and safe isolation methods.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation including electrical single line diagrams, cable schedules, instrument loop diagrams, PLC backups, calibration certificates, maintenance and breakdown logs, and energy consumption reports.
- Coordinate with vendors and AMC providers including OEMs, calibration agencies, and contractors to ensure service delivery and contract compliance.
Qualifications and Experience
- Degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, or Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering.
- Technical knowledge in electrical systems including HT/LT, MCC/PCC panels, transformers, DG sets, VFDs, soft starters, and power distribution networks.
- Proficiency with instrumentation: field instruments, analyzers, calibration procedures, control valves, and loop checks.
- Understanding of automation technology involving PLC programming basics, SCADA, HMI, and industrial communication protocols such as Modbus, Profibus, and Ethernet/IP.
