Job description
Project overview
This contract opportunity is for seasoned energy-sector professionals who want to contribute to the improvement of large language models. In this role, you will use your domain knowledge to judge AI-generated answers, build realistic business scenarios, and help create benchmark data that reflects how work is actually done across the energy industry.
The engagement is project-based and is intended for expert consultants rather than full-time employees. It is limited to U.S.-based experts and follows a 1099 consultant arrangement. Work is fully remote, and you will manage your own schedule.
Project focus
The assignment centers on creating high-quality evaluation material for AI systems used in real-world energy workflows. You will develop or curate authentic source documents, write prompts that require analysis and practical judgment, craft expert reference answers, and prepare scoring rubrics that measure accuracy, completeness, reasoning, and domain knowledge.
Subject matter may include power generation, plant operations, oil and gas, renewable energy, utilities, grid operations, transmission and distribution, energy markets, asset management, capital projects, engineering operations, regulatory compliance, operational reviews, procurement, safety and environmental programs, and executive or strategic planning.
Consultant terms
This role is not a salaried job. Compensation is handled on a per-project basis, with the stated hourly rate serving as an estimate of the time expected to complete work. Consultants are expected to use their own tools, work independently, and may continue working with other clients or employers if those arrangements allow it.
